CAMBRIDGE, MA: May 15th, 2010, many members under Prince Hall Michigan put rubber to the road as they traveled from Michigan to Massachusetts to partake in the awaited unveiling of the Prince Hall Monument in Cambridge, MA. on the historic Cambridge Common Rotunda. Worshipful Master Charles Ayler and Past Master John Solomon, FAMABIFF Lodge #33, coordinated the bus excursion from Michigan to Massachsuetts. The Cambridge Commons, an area best known for General George Washington forming the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War Period in the 18th century.
The Brothers enjoyed a weekend of visiting several Masonic landmarks such as the Prince Hall Monument burial grounds located in Boston, MA, observed a third degree raising on Castle William Island (where Prince Hall and the 14 other Brothers were raised Master Masons in 1775), the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Ma. - located in Dorchester, MA., as well as other sites in and around the Boston area.
Past Master James L. Young, II, of Corinthian Lodge #38, the only individual on the Prince Hall Monument committee from the state of Michigan, enjoyed a dinner in his honor on May13th, 2010 which was hosted by former Mayor of Cambridge, Councilor E., Denise Simmons and , too, received an award of appreciation and a resolution on behalf of the Mayor and City Council of Cambridge , MA. during an exclusive V.I.P reception held May 14th, 2010, in Harvard Square.
Though the appearence of most of our M.W,. Prince Hall Grand Masters were few, during the unveiling of the Prince Hall Monument, we're proud to have shared this historic unveiling with our current M.W. Prince Hall Grand Master of MI., the Honorable Paul Robinson, Deputy Grand Master Derrick Paige, and Junior Past Grand Master Clarence Round, Jr. More information , going forward, relative to the Prince Hall monument will be made available on the official web site: http://www.princehallmemorial.org.
